Textual analysis

What's the says,

I recently begun my textual analysis for my project. I analysed a documentary on suicide, called suicide.

Released in 2001, suicide is a film directed by Earnes Yates and explores the suicide of his own brother which occurred 2 years prior to the films release. Earnes' brother Teddy was 40 when he shot himself whilst at home.

The film addresses some fundamental questions surrounding the issue, such as: what kind of suffering can lead to someone taking their own life? Was there anything that could of been done to prevent this?

Through a number of interviews the documentary also hears the thoughts and opinions of experts in the field who all help us gain a better understanding of the subjects.

This documentary really appealed to me as it answered many big questions around mental health which is similar to what I would like to do in my project.

I have gained a vast amount of ideas from the textual analysis on this and will gain even more information when I continue my textual analysis with another media text.

Seven - Textual analysis

I watched an 8 minute clip from the film multiple times and analysed different aspects of the construction of the scenes such as the mise-en-scene, the lighting, the camera, and most importantly for this particular film, the characters. This is because the characters in this scene are very similar to the characters I would like to construct in my coursework At this point in the movie, in the beginning of act three, after the previous story twists, our expectations of what is to come are already well set up. But here John Doe is very confident and repeatedly emphasizes the impact of his coming act. This raises even more the audience expectation and triggers an almost unbearable curiosity for the climax.
